Regularly Updated Rankings
Backstage, we'll be working hard keeping our rankings up to date throughout
the fantasy drafting season.
Trades, free agent signings, training camp injuries, holdouts and suspensions
will all be updated as soon as possible.
From the app's home screen, you can easily download the newest database of
information meaning everything is still available to you regardless of whether
or not you have an internet connection in your draft room.
At the time of writing, it's early June, and already we've participated in
over 80 drafts as part of our
draftmasters series. We'll
continue to be on the ball for your fantasy drafts.
Our rankings are actually based on per-game stat projections, along with
player upsides and injury and roster risks. This means that GOAheadScore's
rankings for your league will be dynamically generated according to your league's
scoring system and roster requirements.
Access to the GOAheadScore player database
As well as regularly updating our rankings, we also regularly update our
database of players, available both on the website and through the FF Draft
Advisor App. For each player you can see:
- Scoring projections
- Team, position and photo
- Upside, injury/roster risks
- A review of their 2010 season
- An outlook for their 2011 season
- Strength of schedule for 2011
Mock Drafting
One of the keys to drafting is practice.
Once you've setup your leagues in the app, you'll be able to mock draft them,
with the app's artificial intelligence picking for the other teams, as many
times as you want.
The AI in the app is based upon the GOAheadScore index,
with the results slightly randomized so no two drafts are the same.
Mock drafting from the app also allows you to experiment with various
different strategies depending on where you are picking in each of your drafts.
In some leagues you may have some managers who can't attend the draft. They
might opt for you to draft for them by turning on "AutoDraft" inside the app -
this will select picks for them in exactly the same way and will provide them
with a more intuitive roster than just autodrafts that pick according to ADP.
How the GOAheadScore Index works
Each time you are due to pick, GOAheadScore's index will advise you as to
which are the best players for your team still on the board. The index is
generated by...
- For each spot on your starting roster, calculating the worst case per week
score. This will either by the "worst starter" for the roster spot's position(s),
or a player you have already drafted who takes that particular spot
- For each position, the worst case score can then be considered
- Each player's projections are weighted by upside and risk according to the
stage in the draft (the earlier in the draft, the less upside counts and the more
risk deducts)
- Their weighted score is compared to the worst case at their position to give
the "worst starter" index
- Each pick until your next selection (or pair of selections) is then projected
to give a percentage change for each player that they are still available when
you next have a draft selection.
- Using the "worst starter" index and next pick chance for each player, the app
calculates your "loss" at their position if instead of drafting that player now,
you wait til your next selection to draft another player at the same position
- This "loss" is the GOAheadScore index
The app does all these calculations in under a couple of seconds leaving
you with optimal draft choices almost immediately - you can then research
each suggestion further from within the app before making your pick.

★★★★★ A must have
by Rosco643 - Version 1.2.1 - 01 August 2011
In the age of Apps this one is a must have for the fantasy football fan. Very
easy to use, import your own teams settings, export your results. It has in
depth analysis on each player! What more could you want?
★★★★★ Best FF app available
by BlitzAgin1 - Version 1.2.1 - 01 August 2011
This app is well thought out and provides current rankings, the ability to do
mock drafts, the ability to use for you offline drafts or an online drafts.
Very helpful and would highly recommend it!
★★★★ Version for IDP????
by MyPsalm91 - Version 1.2.1 - 22 July 2011
Very good app. Hope there is a version in the future to support IDP Leagues.
Response: Maybe for next year! The problem is, IDP requires twice as
many resources in terms of keeping the rankings up to date, but is probably only
useful for 10% or so of FF players...
★★★★★ Best I've found

★★★★ Finally a Good Drafting App!
by WalrusCP - Version 1.2.1 - 21 July 2011
This is something the App Store has been missing for a long time: a great
drafting app. It's a very solid app that provides some very useful information
for MFL drafts or any other offline type of draft. I especially like how it
adjusts based on your league's rules and lineup requirements in suggesting
players. The app isn't without flaws though. It utilizes an online database that
the user has to manually update. While the database update button is prominent,
an auto-update mechanism would be the best approach. The app's GUI is also on
the rough side of things (not uncommon for fantasy football apps in general, I
must confess). Some time spent polishing it would make this a truly magnificent
app. The user workflow could also be improved: it's not bad at all, but it's not
streamlined. If these three areas are improved upon, this is a five-star app.
This is by and large the a great app that should hopefully only get better
(I am a beta tester, so I'll keep throwing ideas at the developer). MFLers
especially should make this a must-own app.
Response: Following Colin's feedback, we introduced with v1.3 auto
updating, a cleaner user interface and better workflow.
★★★★★ Must Have App For All Fantasy Football Managers!
by Mr. 52 Pick-Up - Version 1 - 03 July 2011
I have spent several years playing fantasy sports, and have encountered many
sources for draft information. But I have yet to encounter a draft app that is
this comprehensive, handy, and easy to use than Go Ahead Score's draft advisor.
First off, it allows you to enter all of your league's information into the app,
and spits out the rankings, round by round, that are specific to your team's
needs! An example would be that while in a current draft, I was picking right
at the turn. It was the 8th round and I didn't have a TE yet, so when I checked
the draft advisor, the best next picks for my team were all TEs. I made the
pick, and the draft advisor completely reworked the rankings so a TE wasn't
even in sight for my next pick, and I was left with the best players to fill my
team's needs going forward. The draft app also gives you the opportunity to run
through countless mock drafts from every position given your league settings.
And unlike other draft apps, this one doesn't just follow the same old draft of
picking the best players available, but it will actually have the computer
drafted teams pick different players every time through. Sometimes Arian Foster
is the first pick, other times Mike Vick goes first. It really lets you get a
REAL sense of what you can expect when you sit down at the table for your
league's draft. The projections are adjusted daily, so you are never with old
information like your other leaguemates who rely on their draft guide magazines
that are already out of date before they even hit the shelves (trust me, I've
contributed in my fair share of draft guide magazines). The most amazing part
of the app is that the developers are easily accessible and are always willing
to listen to all of the comments and criticisms that they receive, so that they
can ensure that the best product on the market is available. If you purchase
this app, it will definitely be the best $3 you've ever spent on fantasy sports
advice, as there will definitely not be a product this good out there for less
than close to ten times as much. And after having used some of those in the
past, I can say that head-to-head, this app blows them all out of the water,
regardless of price. There will be nothing else out there that can better get
you through the fast-paced, pressure filled drafts that Go Ahead Score's draft
advisor. So make sure you're ahead of all of your leaguemates and get your hands
on this draft app.
★★★★★ Best draft app period.
by gwizie - Version 1 - 03 July 2011
This beats all other draft apps hands down, and most PC based draft software.
Recommend highly.
★★★★★ Great app!
by - Version 1 - 02 July 2011
This is an awesome app! It's going to work perfectly for my drafts this year.
It should give me the edge over my league mates by giving me suggestions of
best players available each round. It's also a lot of fun doing mocks with my
friends as a "pass and play". Highly recommend!!
★ Incompatible?
by NoToR1oUs.D23 - Version 1 - 02 July 2011
Does not even work.. Keeps saying that the draft type is incompatible, that
only live and email drafts are accepted. My league is live draft. Unless I'm
missing something, this app is horrible.
Response: What this reviewer was missing is that they were trying
to use the app for an auction draft. While the players' database is still useful
for auction drafts, the app does not give reactive advice for auction drafts,
nor will it import MyFantasyLeague leagues that are auction drafted. This is
stated on the iTunes Store and on the app page here on GOAheadScore! Get in
touch and we'll refund you.
